I Am... Proving Football Can Be Fun Without Sprinting

Our first Walking Football session had an amazing turnout, with a fantastic response from everyone who came along to give it a go.

Run with support from Walking Football Scotland, and with Vivian and Shirley on hand to keep everyone right, the session began with some gentle stretches and warm-ups before moving into a few drills and, of course, a game.

Walking football offered a more accessible way to enjoy the sport, without the pressure of sprinting around the pitch. It was suitable for anyone aged 16 and over, and the first session showed just how inclusive and enjoyable it could be.

Everyone brought plenty of enthusiasm, and it was great to hear how much people had enjoyed taking part and the benefits they felt afterwards.

Following the success of the first event, we decided to continue the sessions on a monthly basis.

A big thank you went to Vivian and Shirley from Walking Football Scotland, and to everyone who came along and made the first session such a success.

The sessions were provided free of charge through Hanley and the Baird Dreampot, helping more people get active, meet others and enjoy football in a relaxed and welcoming environment.
