Hanley & The Baird Dreampot - Our First 'I Am...' Sessions in Edinburgh
Our first ‘I Am…’ sessions took place in Edinburgh, bringing people together through art, dance and conversation in a welcoming and supportive environment.
Run by Hanley and the Baird, the day included ‘I Am… Making My Mark’, an art session led by Carol Baines, and ‘I Am… Moving to My Own Beat’, a dance session with Amy Drummond Santer. We also held Coffee Connections – ‘I Am… Making New Friends’, giving everyone the chance to meet, chat and build new connections.
It was fantastic to see everyone throw themselves into the activities. Some arrived feeling understandably nervous, but as the sessions progressed those nerves gave way to confidence, laughter and genuine joy.
The sessions were about much more than trying something new. They created an opportunity for people to connect, express themselves and enjoy being part of a supportive community.
The Edinburgh event marked the beginning of a wider programme of ‘I Am…’ activities, which also includes Sing Along Sessions, a herb walk with herbalist Wendy Kelly, walking football and Remember when sessions.
A huge thank you went to our session leaders, volunteers and everyone who took part. Seeing the difference between those first nervous moments and the smiles by the end of the day was exactly what the sessions were all about.
